Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) isn’t a gender specific problem. The lack of self-love and self-acceptance is an emotional imbalance held within our deepest Human Biofields, the Chakras.
In the case of BDD it’s primarily but not exclusively a Heart Chakra blockage to love.
After over 20 years of seeing thousands of private clients with serious life-threatening illnesses, self-love and self-acceptance were extremely low on the totem pole for them.
Their primary health problems were rooted in the way they felt about themselves, in their “heart of hearts” aka the heart chakra.
In a world inundated by the impossible standards of surgically altered “beauty” BDD is an important topic.
It’s also an excellent example of a specific problem that Energy Psychology and tapping can help overcome permanently.
In A World Filled With Surgical "Beauty"
If you’ve ever seen the TV show “Botched” it’s about two Beverly Hills plastic surgeons who repair surgeries that have gone wrong.
I mention it because you get to see one extreme presentation of Body Dysmorphic Disorder after the next.
It’s a real eye-opener to see how many people experience self-loathing and invest hundreds of thousands of dollars to change their appearance.
I’m not throwing shade on corrective surgeries from trauma or birth defects to rebalance self-esteem, but you get my drift right?
I want to talk about BDS on a smaller, more relatable scale, the minor league stuff you might consider normal.
Here’s some examples:
You won’t wear shorts because you’re ashamed of your legs; too misshaped, too skinny, too fat, too many veins, too many scars.
You won’t go out in public without makeup because you feel “ugly” without it.
You hate your hair because it’s thin or you’re losing it and you feel unattractive and not good enough.
You won’t wear the sandals that you’d love to wear because your feet are ugly, disappointing and imperfect.
You feel disappointed every time you look in the mirror, and focus on perceived flaws.
It's very common: -Zoom Dysmorphia
A Lack of Self-Love and Acceptance
What we’re really talking about here is lack of self-love and acceptance, a learned behavior with roots from the past.
I’m talking about childhood or young adult traumas that set the stage for self loathing.
All it takes is a bully or a critical parent or sibling to point out a perceived flaw with name calling and ridicule, and you’ve got fodder for self criticism for the rest of your life.
Until you learn how to release it using Energy Psychology and Tapping.
In the traditional EFT tapping affirmation, part of the setup phrase formula is “I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
I developed my signature methods of tapping because after thousands of private sessions with clients, not everyone does.
It’s Really Hard To Say That Stuff
It’s really hard to say that stuff and mean it especially when you disagree internally.
However, being able to deeply and completely love and accept yourself is an excellent goal to attain.
It’s the most important component in our personal lives to strive for.
All you have to do is pull those past “ridicule weeds” by their roots and you’re there! Honestly, it’s really that simple.
If you think you have BDD but you’re not sure where to begin to address it, a very good place to start is to disarm the social anxietythat rides in tandem; aka the discomfort in your own skin.
I’m talking about the feelings of anxiety about people zeroing in on your imperfections in public. You anticipate being conspicuous, you feel stared at, they’ll pick you apart, you’ll be judged, whispered about, ridiculed and laughed at.
Remember those are only your feelings of insecurity that only you are projecting. Believe me, nobody’s noticing your imperfections until you highlight them energetically.
And when you put enough time and effort in emanating negative energy, you attract negative energy in return. Remember that. It’s the natural law of attraction.
Just like the Animal Kingdom, some people can pickup on your weaknesses fairly quickly, that’s when you fall prey.
It Can Really Change, Really!
It doesn’t have to be that way, you really can shift that energy and live happily without it! But you have to start somewhere and I’ve got a remedy!
So, regardless of whether you’ve been struggling with extreme BDD and have an addiction to cosmetic surgery, or you have “small scale” physical appearance shame, take that first step and bring your fear emotions back into balance. Extinguishing your anxiety is essential.
Because when you become congruent with self-love and self-acceptance, you’ll be able to see beyond any of your lumps, bumps, and flaws. Only then will you fully appreciate what makes you uniquely beautiful…and fully own it.
