Anger, Energy Psychology, Covid-19, Fear
The storm of Covid hit us all. But because I have experience of helping literally thousands of private patient and client experiences with serious diseases and chronic pain syndromes with EFT also known as "tapping" it hit me less than others.
I'm a small-town girl and a baby boomer from the state of Indiana, USA. I'm also a well-seasoned practitioner of Energy Psychology, expert in EFT "tapping." I developed my signature, cut-to-the-chase spin on traditional tapping I call the Bitch Tap Method™. It was my go-to method to keep me calm, relaxed and balanced when Covid hit.
My personal brand is Trauma Queen, and my primary focus is helping people overcome the emotional and physical effects of Trauma from Adverse Childhood Experiences, aka the ACE Study, to be exact. I wrote a book about my own childhood adversity and clinical experiences called "Diary of a Mad Practitioner."
I firmly believe that my traumatic experiences growing up made it easier for me to cope with and reframe the new pandemic experience and roll with its punches. Actually, it feels natural. As a young girl left to my own resources, I always found a way to either mentally cope or go mad, a way to make the best of a bad situation so I could dust myself off, tell myself I'm okay and survive it.
Little did I know I would use that same unflappable spirit to help me navigate the pandemic of Covid-19, the relentless quarantine, and end up helping more people than I ever imagined.
Since I was born after the Great Depression and WW2, this was truly my first rodeo for global scale catastrophes. At first, I was in shock and disbelief, just like everyone else my age and younger. Born in the 1930s, this wasn't my mom's first rodeo either, so she wasn't freaking-out over our state of emergency. Having gone through the food rations and hardships of her era personally as a child, she took the pandemic in stride.
Mom is a 90-year-old widow with physical disabilities, advancing dementia, and lives with my husband, George and I. Together we share in a small house on a quiet cul-de-sac with three rescued dogs and two cats. George has a small Chiropractic practice in town and I'm a stay-at-home entrepreneur of my business, Trauma Queen. I spend most of my time actively working on my business and helping clients. while at the same time, I oversee the daily and nightly care of my mother with her personal helpers.
Because of my internet business I'm online for much of the day making it easier to stay in touch with my numerous friends and very large array of ethnic families through Facebook. Facebook became my public window to the world. I saw my friends and loved ones, and read their posts and comments dealing with intense fear and anxiety, and the constant barrage of bad news on television and the internet.
Our hideous commonality was that we were all rendered helpless together. Much like sitting ducks in a gallery, none of us knowing which one of us would get shot out of the water and die. It was nerve-wracking, and I felt helpless... for a minute anyway.
There was information about death, and death statistics everywhere. It seemed that people were struggling hard - the possibility of a slow painful death sunddenly became more real.
With the lethal virus raging in the background, there was a very good chance my time was coming sooner than later.
It was madness out there, panic in the streets, loads of fear and anxiety felt by all. We were out of control, helpless to fight an invisible killer, none of us knowing what to do or how to handle it. I could see the faces in the crowd among my friends and family who were coming unglued.
To me, as a fellow human being on this planet faced with a global catastrophe, nothing else matters more than helping one another.
I couldn't stop thinking about how everyone else I knew was dealing with it. Were they freaking out? I thought about the people who live alone with no emotional support, all my beloved cousins, my loved ones and treasured friends all the way from primary school. I sat contemplating in the dark of our living room, feeling like I was figuratively sitting on my hands. I had all the know-how to help people, I just needed to figure out the how-to part. And I did.
The Bitch Tap Method™ is a powerful and highly effective emotional self-regulating tool, and it works in seconds’ flat. I developed it after working with patients who seemed to have no hope, and it brought success.
I have been known to say that I could tap and de-stress a whole sports stadium filled with people all at once! So, I figured, why not use those skills as my major contribution to our mental health emergency? And it should be free for everyone, anywhere on the planet. I called it The No More Trauma Club.
To be Covid safe, I formed a virtual stadium filled with people by Zoom meetings as my gift to the world. For three months straight, I offered everyone free Covid stress relief.
Our group tapped specifically for panic, fear, and anxiety, and it worked like a charm. People in the meetings felt better immediately and could function again, their fears and anxiety melted away in minutes. As the weeks dragged on, emotions went from fear and anxiety to anger, the specialty of my Bitch Tap Method™.
Anger at being controlled, anger at feeling helpless, anger at being told what to do and what not to do, for not being able to gather for holidays with our loved ones, anger at loss of wages, jobs, and our social lives. We addressed the subsequent layers of emotions as the weeks and months rolled by and the club gathering continued to work for all of us amazingly well.
Eventually, because of the spike in outbreaks in our city, it was mandatory that my husband stay home from the clinic. Out of necessity, I added a nominal monthly fee to keep us and our club going exactly as it is today.
I view the No More Trauma Club meetings as a tapping concierge service for immediate emotional therapy. You can pick and choose anything going on in your life—your top priority, and deal with it right in the moment. The club is specific for releasing any type of stress, anxiety, fears, panic, angers, frustrations and physical symptoms. Since it still meets on Saturdays for only a quick half-hour, it serves a wonderful weekend reset button so you can live in the moment and enjoy your life without the fear of the future. I relish our Saturdays as we fill them with light-hearted humor, laugher, and sighs of relief. I love my work!
I'm so grateful for the opportunity to give the gift of peace to those who were suffering, afraid and lonely. I'm grateful to know how many lives this club has touched, and how many people it's helped to help themselves in the face of danger and uncertainty.
The Covid problems continue. Breaking our barriers of fear and anger and being present and alive in the moment is the very best way to cope during this unprecedented time. In the grander scheme of things we all came together for a reason, to hold each others hands until the storm has passed.
